Summary:
Economic development is accompanied by rapid urbanization. In recent years, the proliferation of industrial zones, factories, and workshops has significantly contributed to the surge in migration from rural to major urban centers. Notably, a substantial portion of these migrants consists of individuals who leave their hometowns to seek employment as laborers in industrial areas and factories. This article offers an overview of studies on immigrant workers through a synthesis and analysis of existing documents. It also highlights key characteristics of the migrant worker demographic, factors affecting their lives and social integration-such as access to social security and the prejudices they face-and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
